Vlisco Netherlands presents: Tresor Brilliant

I absolutely love this new July 2011 collection from Vlisco Hollandais. The material is absolutely gorgeous and elegant. It’s a step away from the traditional African-print ankara fabric. This line includes embellishments such as sequins to provide a more exotic look and feel. The creativity that can be achieved by this material is limitless.

See for yourself below:

I love Vlisco ad campaigns, they’re so creative with their materials, the style they debut the material in, and their marketing information. It’s no wonder bloggers love them, retailers love them, and fashionistas can’t get enough

A little somethin’ somethin’ for the guys by Designer – Mina Evans.
These outfits are trendy without being “too African” if there’s ever such a thing. It’s western inspired with a dash of African in it. I know some guys who would rock these no questions asked. It’s not only during special occasions that you have to rock trads.

These shirts are ready-to-wear and available for sale. Just facebook Mina Evans

Bringing African Fashion to the world via the internet

Browsing CNN.com earlier today i came across this video on AgnesandLola.com – an online boutique featuring collections by independent designers with an African theme to their clothing. Just Brilliant.

They’re taking African fashion global and I loves it. Designers don’t have to wait for a coveted spot at fashion week to display their creative works anymore.

Anyway enough blabbing, this is not an essay. Enjoy the video.

“Most designers believe that some models don’t wear their superlative pieces the way they envisioned it. So we got six designers with diverse fashion expressions to showcase their pieces in the exact way they would love for them to be seen” – Ohimai Atafo (Fashion Director, Genevieve Magazine).
