Duro Olowu is a talented designer, but personally I don’t think this style flatters Mrs. Obama. I mean look at those Christian mother hips!
Beyonce Fashion Faux Pas
August 27th, 2010
stylemenaija I guess FASHION, much like beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.
Yahoo OMG! lists Beyonce in this ankara (african print) material as a fashion don’t. My african massives, minus the animal print *shudders*(bleh), which part of this material is wrong?

Vlisco – Reflet de Lumière’: Optical Illusion
August 6th, 2010
stylemenaija Vlisco launched their late summer/early fall collection 2010 called Reflet de Lumiere.
According to the site…
Vlisco takes colour to a higher level, bringing it to life with the new ‘Reflet de Lumière’ fabric collection. The collection elucidates the disparity between silhouettes and movement with a colourful blurring effect. The designs create a surreal sense of structural forms, an illusion of architectural dimensions. This sensation is enhanced by the visual effect of morphing created by the interaction between shadows and the aura of coloured lights, merging to produce a graphical collection of unique fabrics.
Just Lace
July 23rd, 2010
stylemenaija These days, thanks very much to Vlisco (my opinion), the african print material (ankara) has helped launch, jump start, propel many designers to the front line. Celebs like Fergie, Beyonce, Alicia Keys have been seen in their Ankara outfits.
It’s a wonder if Ankara is the only fabric available to make creative standout designs in today’s African fashion marketplace
….then comes Mary Shittu. Her fabric of choice is the lace. Elaborate, grand, expensive, and let’s say it, couture!
Let the designs speak for themselves.
