African print in Hollywood?

G’day fabulous divas and swaggerific gentlemen! Happy valentine’s weekend!!

The buzz this week is Sister Beyonce Knowles-Carter and Sister Alicia Keys rocking their Ankara designs in Brazil on the set of the new video – Put it in a love song. (watch the making of the video here).

….seeing hollywood celebs in African print or African-inspired designs is nothing new to us. StyleMeNaija brought you Ankara at the Emmys; so we had to go find the creative person behind these designs. And she’s Sister Maya Lake of Boxing Kitten designs-an American designer with a love of things African. Check her out. She’s also responsible for designs we’ve seen on Fergie, Erykah Badu, and other celebs.

You’ll also see Boxing Kitten on Ms Rihanna in the Rude Boy vid.

id like to know how this Boxing Kitten got her apparels known to the celebrities…its an avenue i’ve tried to expplore but to no avail.

  2. Some people reference Beyonce as being a legitimate role model and in interviews she really presents a strong woman with even firmer values. Then when you watch some of her videos and check some of her photoshoots you’re left wondering where that good, strong woman from the interviews is. She says that she’s a “good girl” and Sasha, her alter ego, is the “bad girl.” Is it right for her to fault her distasteful decisions on an alter ego? I don’t believe it is.
